Body Repairs and how to : Burnt my Top Motor
Posted by pinky on 2008/9/21 2:16:43 (10 reads)

ok so my top switch got stuck on a position and ended up burning up my top motor.
Apparently there is a winding inside that commands the direction of the motor and continuous voltage applied burns that.

After looking on the web I found that place: http://www.topmotorrepair.com/

this guy repairs top motors of many kind including mine.

I am also going to replace the relay as this can cause the issue (same issue)

This place sales it for 59$
http://www.topsdown.com/New-top-motor-control-relay-p4.html

now I just need to find a new switch which I am not sure where I will find.

the motor rebuilder makes a good point that the side side gears could be looked at and greaced, that's a great idea. I'll take the appart tomorrow.

Mecanical Repairs Engine : high speed blower is not working (heater)
Posted by pinky on 2007/10/11 10:21:41 (66 reads)

ok so you turn on the heater and the blower and .......... the high position doesn't work ...
Pfffffffffff
it's not that bad of a problem.

Under the hood, in the middle of the firewall there is an inline fuse 30 amp that connects the main power to the high speed blower relay.

change the fuse and you are in busyness.
It's not that easy to change that fuse by the way. don't hesitate to replace the fuse link as well

Mecanical Repairs Engine : Slow or non working clicker
Posted by pinky on 2007/10/8 11:02:10 (56 reads)

Sometime the turn signals are old and are blinking very slow.

There are 2 clickers or blinkers in this car. one for the emergency flasher and one for the turn signals.

The emergency one is mounted on the fuse box right above the break paddel of the driver and easy to replace. a replacement cost 3-4$ at a car store

the turn signal one is right above the hood release under the dash.
open the left under dash and find the round clicker, and change it. most new ones make significantly less noise as well

Body Repairs and how to : repairing the clock
Posted by pinky on 2007/10/1 14:10:00 (71 reads)

Ok so the clock doesn't work ?
no surprise there this happens
ok so first you have to remove the clock and to do so you have to remove the little trim piece in front.

Once done

carefully remove the cover and DO NOT TOUCH THE MECANISM.

simply push the rewinder with a little screw driver

then clean the contacts with 100 grid sand paper give it a try
